Everyday Taiwan, Made Mini
It’s funny how certain things in Taiwan stick with you long after you leave. Whether you’ve visited, have family there, or just love the small details that make a place feel real, the Hello Taiwan 3 Nostalgia Series from Luyao Design (路遙圓創) and Wky560 pulls together all the little moments locals talk about and travelers always remember. These mini figures capture familiar details from homes and side streets, tiny snapshots of the everyday things that make Taiwan feel warm, lived-in, and unforgettable—even if you can’t always put your finger on why they feel so familiar.
Small Objects, Big Memories
TV: The TV broke again! Five o’clock is Doraemon time! The classic “Give it a tap!” moment—hoping the cartoon comes back on.
Truck (Classic Blue & White): The vendor calls echoing through neighborhoods: “Repair screens, doors, glass!”—just loud enough to wake you from your afternoon nap.
Radio: Static crackles in the living room as familiar tunes float out. Spinning cassettes, singing along to the B-side—afternoons couldn’t feel sweeter.
Arcade Machine: Go! Go! Hit the buttons! Ten-dollar coins, button-mashing, and "loser treats the winner to soda.”
Shaved Ice Machine: Ice flakes fall into a bowl, and you scoop sweet beans over it. The perfect post-school summer treat.
Rice Cooker (Classic Green & Red): Grandma lifts the lid: steaming white rice fills the kitchen with warmth. “Eat more rice to grow strong!”
Laughing Buddha: Sitting by the TV, always smiling. “Touch his belly for good luck,” adults say—and you secretly do, hoping for a wish to come true.
Telephone (Classic Green & Retro Red): Dialing grandma, hearing her voice: a ritual that connected family across time.
Electric Fan (Green & Blue-White): Blowing on your face and making robot voices into the fan while someone in the house yelled, “Don’t do that!”
Convex Mirror: The street corner mirror shows grandpa holding your hand as you cross. Memories of sneaking out after school for snacks.
Camera: “Is the watermelon sweet?” “Sweet!” The Taiwanese version of “Say cheese!” Capturing birthday hats and crooked smiles.
Tile Bathtub: Colorful tiles, endless water play, Grandma knocking on the door: “Don’t soak too long, you’ll turn into a bun!”
Barber Shop Lamp: Swirling colors, nervous haircuts, and Dad saying, “Looks good!”
Signboard: Old shop signs, each brushstroke carrying decades of memory and nostalgia.
